I'm leaving for Stockholm in a few hours to, among other things, go to a fan event with Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. But before I do that, I thought I'd mention a couple of contests I've found about through twitter.

Visit Reading Angel or All-Consuming Books: Reviews by Tiger to find out how to enter in their contests for the chance to win a copy of Spirit Bound!
Both contests are open to US residents only.

Have any of you ordered an autographed book by Richelle Mead from University Bookstore? I really, really, really want to! But unfortunately I can't afford to buy the books in hardcover right now, especially since I also want to buy the rest of the Georgina Kincaid books after finishing Succubus Blues. :-)

Milinha Foforks
was really happy a few days ago, when her signed copy of Spirit Bound arrived! She tweeted this picture of her book:

Milinha Foforks is part of the staff on the Foforks website, a Brazilian Twilight website, which by the way has a really fun World Cup inspired front page at the moment. :-)

If you want to order a book signed by Richelle Mead, visit her official website for more information and details on how to order.

For all of you who haven't been able to get hold of a copy of Spirit Bound, Twilight Series Theories are having a really cool contest where you can win a copy!

To win you have to send in your ideas for dream cast for a Vampire Academy movie.
From their contest post:

You can send in your ideas for who should play any of the characters to contest@twilightseriestheories.com. EACH character you ‘cast’ is an entry into the contest, and it increases your chances of winning! So, pick a character, or 4 characters from the Vampire Academy!

The contest will begin Tuesday, June 1st, and will run through Sunday, June 20th!

Twilight Series Theories reserves the right to choose the winners at its discretion. We will pick a winner at random, and mail the book to you… ANYWHERE! So, what are you waiting for?

Isn't this a great contest? It would be really interesting to see the dream casts in the contest entries.
As we mentioned a few days ago, Twilight Series Theories have also been given the opportunity to interview Richelle Mead!

Australia is a very big market for the Vampire Academy books, which I assume is one of the reasons that Australians were lucky enough to have Richelle visit them for the release of Blood Promise. (Holding out hope that she'll come to a place close to me someday...)
Spirit Bound is currently #1 on the Australian bestseller list for the second week in a row. Good job, Aussies! :-)

Kylie Triggell talks a little bit about that in an article in the Australian magazine The Satellite. She also had the opportunity to do an interview with Richelle:

“I didn't really know what I was getting myself into,” Ms Mead said about how popular her teenage series had become.

“I had two series' for adults and decided to write something for teens.

“I had to think ‘what paranormal creatures are left'.”

Those creatures were vampires, and so Vampire Academy was born. But don't think for a second Ms Mead was jumping onto the teen vampire bandwagon.

“I think Twilight had just come out, but I'd never heard about it,” she said about when the first book in her series was released.

Instead she credits a love of mythology and folklore to the creation of the series.

“I'm interested in mythology of all levels - Greek, Roman,” she said.

“I expanded on this in college and took a class on Slavic and Eastern European Mythology.”

It was this mythology she drew on while creating the world for Vampire Academy, which is inhabited by mortal vampires called Moroi, their guardians - dhampir's and immortal vampires called Strigoi.

But the Vampire Academy series nearly never came into being.

“I started writing it, but then stopped a few weeks into it,” Ms Mead said.

“I found I was over-thinking the teenage mindset and also I was writing in the third person. It was a mess.

“About six months alter I picked it up again, streamlined it and stopped over-thinking the mindset.

“(After that) it took six weeks to knock out. That was the first draft but it came very quickly.”

With the final book in the Vampire Academy series set to be released in December, Ms Mead said she believed her fans would be happy with the finale.

And she had one message for her Australian fans.

“I love my Australian fans, I hope they know that already,” she said.

“I never expected the hit it would be in Australia.

“I'm just amazed, I hope they know I'm paying attention to them.”

We've been really slow with news lately, and we apologize for that. In addition to this site, all three of us run Twilight sites, and since it's almost time for Eclipse to come out, and Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart are coming to Sweden, there is a lot of news and planning going on! Also, as always, there is end of school and real life things getting in the way, but hopefully we'll have more time to spare in a few weeks.

This isn't directly Vampire Academy related, but it is Richelle Mead related (and really great) so I wanted to mention it anyway.

A couple of days ago Richelle announced on twitter that she was finished with Iron Crowned!

She also wrote:
IRON CROWNED, for those keeping score at home, is book #3 of the Dark Swan series. It's also the fourteenth book I've written in my career.

I love the fact that we have more books to look forward to! Have any of you read the Dark Swan series, or maybe the Georgina Kincaid series? I'm halfway through Succubus Blues at the moment. I'm holding off with opinions until I'm finished with the book, but it feels very promising. :-)

Do you have a question you want to ask Richelle? Well here is your chance!

Twilight Series Theories have been given the opportunity to interview Richelle Mead, and they are asking readers to add to the questions they already have.

So if you have a question you'd like to ask Richelle, either leave a comment on the post over at Twilight Series Theories, or e-mail them at admin@twilightseriestheories.com.

I can't wait to see the results of the interview with Richelle! It's always more interesting to read an interview with questions by the readers, because those are the more initiated ones.
